BACKGROUND

The Ballarat History Central Web site has been specifically set up as an alternative local history resource. It has been designed to appeal to anyone interested in history in general, and local history in particular.

No one Web site can hope to cover all aspects of Ballarat's history. For this reason, this site has been designed simply as a starting point, focussing on eight major subject categories. However, whatever the area of interest, a list of other resources is provided, as well as links to further local sites with associated interests.

By its very nature, with updates and additional material occurring, this site can never be considered as being finished. Rather, the site will always be a work in progress. As a result, contributions in the form of articles, photographs and worthwhile links are always welcome.

FUNDING AND DONATIONS

This website was launched in January 2000, after receiving a small grant through the former Community Arts Grants & Funding Assistance Program, City Of Ballarat. No further funding has ever been received.

Since 2001, the website has had no official connection with or support from the City of Ballarat.

This website has never received any support or funding from anyone to promote Ballarat tourism.

The owner of Ballarat History Central (Robert Martin) has had to pay all costs of running this site since 2001. Donations to cover costs (or for research requests) are always welcome. Australian residents can pay by Cheque or Money Order. Or, secure online payment can be made using PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account to do this.
